Cavs Advance to Sectionals

By: Auston Zehner

The Cavs beat the South Central Satellites 18-0 on October 29. The Cavs play the sectional semifinal at home. The winner of the game would move on to play in the sectional championship.

Friday’s win didn’t come easy for the team. Because of the heavy rain the field was muddy, which limited each offense play calling.

In the end, the Cavs scored three touchdowns in the win and also had 263 yards of offense. Junior Shane Shuman led the team with 111 rushing yards. Junior Emiliano Ortiz had 87 rushing yards and a touchdown. Senior Blake Thompson had 51 rushing yards and a touchdown.

The Cavs defense held the Satellites to 80 yards of offense. The defense had 2 turnovers. Junior Jason Cadle had an interception, senior Tucker Fisher forced a fumble, and senior Hunter Evans recovered the fumble. Junior Ben Lee had 4 sacks on the night.

The Cavs look to keep it going as they play North Judson on Friday, November, 5 for the sectional championship. The two teams played earlier in the year and the Cavs lost 0-19. The team looks to learn from that loss and bring home a sectional championship to Culver.
