Valentine’s Day Feelings in Culver

By: Aleks Stacy

In the month of February, Culver has a lot of things on their plate. This includes the Super Bowl, winter sports wrap-up, winter fest, and of course Valentine’s Day. Valentine’s Day is one of the most popular events because who doesn’t like love. However, this particular time of year can be somewhat romantically difficult for students merely because options for Valentines are quite low in a small school, but that doesn’t mean Valentine’s Day won’t include fun and exciting plans for Culver students.

Since Valentine’s Day is often a day of spending time with a significant other, many try to make memorable plans and events for that day. Sophomore Nathan Wilhoit has some ideas in mind for his sophomore girlfriend Megan England. “I plan to hang out with Megan, give her some gifts, and that’s pretty much it.”

What makes a memorable time can differ between people celebrating. For instance, students often choose to spend Valentine’s Day alone or with friends. “I don’t really usually spend it with boys. I usually spend it with my friends because they give me better company than anyone else,” said freshman Olivia Overmyer.

Valentine’s Day is not only special to friends and significant others. Many people see Valentine’s Day as a chance to spend it with family. For sophomore Noah Davis, he understands exactly how he likes to spend Valentine’s Day. “I think it should be for both friends and family. It’s a day for your family to do something fun,” stated Davis.
