The Effects of Fall Bonanza

Since before many Culver Community students were born, Fall Bonanza has been the activity that gets many students amped up for the big homecoming football game. This year, the senior class won by over twenty points compared to the sophomore class, who had placed second.

     “It is a great time for everyone,” said head football coach Mike Zehner. “I still remember back when I was a student and how much fun it was.  High School is about making those lasting memories and Fall Bonanza is a big part of that in the first quarter of the school year.”

    For the senior class, it could be said that winning school spirit events are normal to them. The seniors have won Fall Bonanza twice, and have won the spring event, Sports Spectacular, twice. Having this under their belt helped the senior football players to gain confidence before the big football game because the football team has a large number of seniors. A Fall Bonanza victory before the game pumps them up for success on the field.

  “I think the entire Fall Bonanza gives the team a boost,” said Coach Zehner.

     While being in first is an accomplishment, being in second place can also be a milestone. Being a younger and less experienced class, the sophomores still managed to pull out a pretty good placement for their level.

     “I feel pretty great. I think we did pretty good this year,” said sophomore Katie Schouten.“It might have been one of our better years. The seniors also did really well. They have always been really athletic. I wasn’t expecting to beat them. So I am pleased that we beat the other grades to get second place.”
