Cooking with Kaity and Chloee

A Thanksgiving Treat

By: Chloee Danti and Kaity Stacy

Thanksgiving is the time of the year when visions of a golden turkey, steaming side dishes, flaky pies, and a beautifully set table all become total chaos. If you are preparing all of the Thanksgiving meal, making a side dish, or just showing up for the holiday fun and are feeling stressed, seniors Kaity Stacy and Chloee Danti have your back this Thanksgiving season.

Kaity and Chloee decided to disrupt the typical Thanksgiving menu this year and cook a fun, new side dish called smash potatoes which are topped with a garlic cheddar sour cream sauce. In order to see if the potatoes would uphold themselves at a Thanksgiving table, they asked five people to taste-test them.

The first taste tester was senior Kaylee Hamilton.

“The potato has a lot of flavor,” said Kaylee.

She rated the smash potato a 9.5 out of 10. Kaity and Chloee were satisfied with this rating, but wanted more input to ensure the success of the potatoes.

Next to try the potatoes was junior Noah Davis.

“They are crispy but not too crispy. It is like a fry, but also crispy like a potato chip. I like them a lot,” said Noah. He was excited to have the smash potato, and he especially loved the sour cream sauce that was on it. He rated it 10 out of 10.

The third person on the list to try this Thanksgiving hit was sophomore Ashley Pugh.

Ashley appeared a bit skeptical of the potato at first, but after trying it she said, “It is actually really good!” She also rated the potato a 10 out of 10.

Lastly, Kaity and Chloee asked freshmen Jonas and Caleb McCuen to try the smash potatoes. “I give the potato an 8 out of 10 because you guys took too long heating them up,” said Caleb. Jonas agreed. However, Kaity and Chloee both believe they loved the free food.

All together, the average rating of the smash potatoes was a 9.1! With this rating, the smash potatoes definitely deserve a spot at the Thanksgiving dinner table.
