Fall Academic Banquet Recap

The Academic Award Banquet was held on October 25th in the high school auditorium. They
recognized many students for extraordinary achievements, and featured the National Honor
Society induction.

NHS is an organization that consists of students who not only exhibit qualities of scholarship,
but also of character, service, and leadership. Current senior members Jason Cadle, Chloee
Danti, Maisy McCuen, and Luci Overmyer all spoke on these qualities as new members were
sworn in by president Kaitlyn Stacy.

The new members sworn in were seniors Kassidy Heise, Oliver Morgan, Abbigail Kisela, and
Joseph Pizur; along with juniors Aleksander Stacy, Landon Stevens, Gwendylan Gilley,
Nemomiah Haschel, Willow Harrington, Hayden Parker, Grace Sieber, Arwen Kornblith, Reese
Herrell, Eriahna Vela, Shelby Olivarez, and Myah Maroules.

Along with the NHS induction, there was a presentation of academic awards. These awards
were presented to students who achieved five out of the six honor rolls from the years prior. The
awards consist of either an Academic C or an Academic Bar.

The students receiving the Academic C award were sophomores Graham Baker, Brynn
Berndt, Amber Black, Vanessa Cadle, Madlin Hamilton, Krystal Haws, Reyonica Hunt, Gyanna
Lewis, Olivia Overmyer, Ashley Pugh, Adamariz Rojas-Mendoza, Katie Schouten, Amiyah
Williams, Caiden Wilson; juniors Tia Champion, Willow Harrington, Arwen Kornblith, Caitlyn
Otteman; and seniors Chloee Danti, Xavier Greer, and Lucile Overmyer.

Students receiving the Academic Bar were juniors Abigail Caudill, Gwendylan Gilley, Neomiah
Haschel, Grace Seiber, Aleksander Stacy, Landon Stevens, Nathan Wilhoit; and seniors Devin
Burkett, Olivia Compton, Collin Hunnicutt, Abbigail Kisela, Landon Kuykendoll, and Shane
Shuman.

As well, for the first time in school history Culver Community inducted two students into Quill
and Scroll: seniors Kaitlyn Stacy and Collin Hunnicutt. Quill and Scroll is an international high
school journalism honor society that recognizes and encourages both individual and group
achievements in scholastic journalism.

Along with this, senior Collin Hunnicutt was also awarded the Diana Hadley Honor Roll.
According to the IHSPA, this annual recognition is presented to individuals who have displayed
journalistic excellence while adhering to the IHSPA core values of truth, courage, integrity, and
freedom throughout the school year. This honor should mirror what would typically be given to
the student earning the top honor as a member of a student media staff. Ideally, it would be
given to one person from each school, or one person per publications staff. Nominees can be
any grade level and earn this distinction multiple times throughout their career.
