Taylor and Travis

Understanding the popularity of Taylor Swift is important because CCMHS has many Swifties. But, Taylor Swift’s recent relationship with Travis Kelce has put her fans into overdrive.

As any Swiftie knows, many believe Taylor dates guys to have a failed relationship so she has something to express in her songs.

But, her current boyfriend Travis Kelce, tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, turns that theory upside down. Their relationship fits in with a lot of things implied in her past songs and some of her other special things which have many fans excited for their relationship.

“Travis is her 13th boyfriend, and Taylor’s lucky number is 13, so he could be the one,” said freshman Autumn Neace.

During the Eras Tour in July, Taylor performed in Kansas City and Travis had made her a “friendship bracelet” with his number on it, but didn’t get to give it to her. This storyline goes along with the theme of her song Mastermind from her album Midnights where she sings about how she first saw someone and made it her mission to get them.

However, negativity always takes center stage and there is a lot of controversy about Travis Kelce’s popularity skyrocketing since his public appearances with Taylor. Some people are stating that she made him famous.

In a survey taken by 5 people about Taylor Swift, 60% of people said they knew Travis Kelce before he and Taylor were together. This shows that though Taylor might have made him more popular, he was still known before their relationship.

But at the end of the day, Taylor affects people in a positive way and a lot of people do like her.

“I feel like Taylor Swift affects my life by making me feel happier and giving me a smile,”

said freshman Drake Zorich.

Even if some people don’t like her, 80% of people surveyed said they like Taylor Swift and her songs, which shows her art is something people enjoy.

“What makes me a fan of Taylor Swift is that she just knows how to write songs, she has gone through so much in the last 17 years of songwriting, and her lyrics dive really deep into the storyline of her songs,” said freshman Autumn Neace.
